Kathmandu - Umbrella Foundation Orphanage

Mick, our trek leader, is a big supporter of the Umbrella Foundation Orphanage in Kathmandu.

Before the trek, Mike, Jack and I joined him on a visit to the orphanage. The Foundation operates a complex of half dozen homes housing 317 children. A school is also located on the premises and operated by the Foundation.

We got an opportunity to tour the Orphanage, meet the staff and some of the kids. The Foundation is doing an admirable job providing housing and education for many of Nepal's neglected and destitute children.

Here are few pics from our visit:

Jack and Mike meeting Amar and Stewart, who manages the orphanage. Amar will be joining the trek as a helper.

Mick meeting Arjun, who will also be joining the trek as a helper. Both lads did great and learned some life skills.

Two young girls giving us a tour of their dorm room

Very shy and so sweet

Mick gets involved teaching English to one of the girls
